MacAgent & MacMonitor
Last Updated: February 28, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how MacAgent (macOS) and MacMonitor (iOS) ("the Apps") handle your information. Your privacy is important to us. The Apps are designed to function with minimal data collection.
Information We Do Not Collect
- No personal information (name, email, phone number)
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports or diagnostics
- No advertising identifiers or tracking
- No browsing history or search queries
- No location data
- No contacts, photos, or media
- No third-party analytics SDKs are included in the Apps
Information Handled by the Apps
Device Information (CloudKit)
The Apps use Apple's CloudKit service to register your Mac for remote device discovery. This includes your device name and a network identifier. This data is stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure, governed by Apple's privacy policy, and is used solely for allowing your devices to find each other.
Encryption Key (CloudKit)
A randomly generated encryption key is stored in Apple's CloudKit to enable end-to-end encrypted streaming between your devices. This key is not accessible to us.
Screen Content
The Apps stream your Mac's screen to your iPhone in real-time. Screen content is transmitted directly between your devices over your local network or through an encrypted relay server. We do not access, record, store, or view any screen content at any time.
Relay Server
When streaming remotely, data passes through our relay server (relay.macagent.org) solely to facilitate the connection between your devices. All streaming content is end-to-end encrypted using AES-256-GCM. The relay server cannot decrypt or inspect the content. No streaming data is logged or stored on the relay server.
Data Storage
All data remains on your devices or within Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We do not operate any databases or servers that store your personal information. The relay server does not persist any data beyond the duration of an active streaming session.
Third-Party Services
- Apple CloudKit — Device registration and key exchange. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple StoreKit — In-app subscription processing. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
No other third-party services are used.
Children's Privacy
The Apps are rated 4+ and do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the Apps collect no personal data, no special provisions for children's data are necessary.
Data Retention
We retain no user data. Device registration records in CloudKit can be removed by uninstalling the app. Encryption keys stored in the macOS Keychain are removed when the app is uninstalled.
Security
All remote streaming sessions are protected with AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption via Apple's CryptoKit framework. Encryption keys are stored in the macOS Keychain. Local network streaming relies on the security of your local network.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. If you have questions about your data in CloudKit, refer to Apple's iCloud data management tools in your device settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Apps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
